There's that old adage, oft mockingly repeated, that you could throw a rock in
nearly any locale in Seattle and hit a dude who plays guitar. In a city like
Seattle, so replete with the talented (and for that matter, the not-so-talented),
it's easy to go unnoticed, easy to not matter at all. (Read: Being four dudes in
a rock band in Seattle gets you damn-near nowhere.) So we can skim over
the faces and positions pretty quickly--Ragan Crowe, vox/guitar; Micah Simler,
bass; Mike Notter, vox/guitar; Jeremy Crowe, drums--and we can get to what
makes SHIM unique, what makes 'em matter--that catalog of throbbing,
pounding, pulsating anthems, those classic rock sensibilities that flavor their
most modern of rock, those flashing lights on the stage, and that thick fog that
nearly (nearly) engulfs them. SHIM has built themselves up in Seattle by
offering something on stage that few Seattle bands manage amidst their
ultimate goal ("cool")--they are rock solid musicians, and they are well-versed
showmen.

On Feel Like a King, their follow-up to 2006's In the Veins, SHIM brings the
ferocity of their live show to the forefront. Scorching longtime fan-favorites like
"The Highway," "Animal," and "We Got Guns" find a home on this disc that
effortlessly seams together the energy with which SHIM takes the stage, and
the precision with which they hone their craft off the stage.

Praise for SHIM, In The Veins, & Feel Like a King:

"They've got a gripping, Aerosmith-emulating energy onstage, and the riffs fly
at you like machetes. Presence like that isn't easy to bottle, though engineer
Brian Brown did a solid job of doing just that on their sophomore release."
- Hannah Levin, Seattle Weekly, 02/08

"Seattle's own red-blooded, riff-heavy arena rock band SHIM pounds out
classic rock-tinged anthems replete with blistering metal solos, thunderous
rhythms and call-and-response choruses."
- Seattle Sound Magazine, 02/08

"Immediate and clever, they pound out riffy rock just this side of the metal
divide, while whip-smart storytelling and odes to not climbing corporate
ladders make up the lyrics."
- The Inlander, 06/07

"They rock like some sort of mad, out-of-control rocking machine that was set
on high and left outside in the rain."
- Seattle Powerpop Blog, 03/07

"In the Veins is full of riff-driven rock music that will grow on you like a fungus,
and if enough people hear about these guys, the sky is certainly the limit."
- Bullz-eye.com, 02/07

"A cut above… a welcome respite from your average Seattle band."
- Seattlest.com, 12/06

"This is party rock with an atomic brain…You just never know where the body
of one of these songs is going to throw a punch or a kick next."
