HOCKEY

Meet Hockey…

As a 2-piece in Los Angeles, Hockey was the kind of band that had heads spinning. They got signed to a development deal with Columbia. They recorded with Talking Heads keyboardist Jerry Harrison. And when execs started trying to reform the band to their liking, killing the heart and soul of what founding members Ben Grubin and Jeremy “Jerm” Reynolds had worked hard to create, Hockey took a leap of faith on a whim and moved to the unknown eastern side of Washington state.

As a 4-piece in Spokane, Hockey was quickly the talk of the town. Arriving in January of 2007, by May they had enough momentum that the local weekly, The Inlander, had them as a buzzworthy band in their annual music issue. They added longtime friend Joel Smith to the mix on guitar, and local drummer Anthony Stassi of Seaweed Jack. They rose quickly, and became claustrophobic in a scene built too small for them.

Now, after 7 months in their new home of Portland spent perfecting their sound, replacing their guitarist (with Stassi’s former bandmate, Brian White), recording their debut album and awaiting their scene debut… Hockey’s ready.

The debut album,
Mind Chaos, is here for your ears to peruse, and the band’s upcoming west coast tour will be your first chance to see them live.
